Combining Your Health Plan with a Health Savings Account
A health savings account (HSA) is a tax-favored savings account into which you can fund tax-free contributions for use in paying for medical-related costs. When combined with a qualifying high-deductible health insurance plan, an HSA can provide lower-cost major medical protection, significant premium savings, immediate tax-savings, and a long-term investment vehicle.
HSA plans, which were first introduced a decade ago, have become the most popular plans we offer due to how much money they can save most people. They continue to be available under health care reform—that is, many Metal plans are also HSA plans. For more information, please see our Health Savings Accounts page.
