Sedera Health

American Equity Annuity Plans

About Sedera Health

Based in Delaware, Sedera Health and its staff have over 30 years of experience in the healthcare arena. They are not a health insurance company, but are modeled after Christian health-sharing organizations. Sedera is designed for employers who want to provide an alternative to health insurance plans for their employees.

How Sedera Works

As a health-sharing corporation, members of Sedera pay a monthly share, which goes to help cover medical expenses for other members. This monthly share replaces a premium, and is much lower than traditional insurance premiums. The monthly share does not increase based on how much assistance a member needs, and no one can denied membership based on medical conditions.

To be a member, all households must pay the monthly share and agree to a set of guidelines. When they receive a medical expense, they send proof of the bill to Sedera’s office. While membership can’t be denied based on a medical condition, not all expenses will qualify for health-sharing. There is a Special Needs Sharing division, however, which can help cover conditions that don’t qualify.

Available Coverage Options

There are four available plans:

  • Employee only - assistance for one person
    • Includes preventative health insurance, member services, and access to a  health savings account if desired
    • Preventative health insurance is a MEC (minimum essential coverage) plan that Sedera does not sell. It is provided by a third-party administrator and is ACA-compliant.
  • Employee plus spouse - assistance for two people
