Canceled Plans in Colorado: Colorado’s Response to President Obama’s “Fix”

Turns out that President Obama’s November 14, 2013, announcement allowing insurance carriers to renew canceled health insurance plans not in compliance with the Affordable Care Act (ACA) had little effect on Colorado consumers. Of the reported 250,000 Coloradans dropped from their existing plans, more than 95 percent were offered early renewal after the president’s announcement. The thing is, Colorado was already offering that option in many of its insurance carriers’ “early renewal” options allowed by state regulations. read more
